More dollars are going abroad out for the higher education of new generation than the hard-earned remittances of expatriates coming in. This figure is like 15 billion dollars. Foreigners are also occupying top multinational positions in the country, such as in the garment industry. Skill oriented education is needed to overcome this situation. UCB Bangladesh, the first international education provider approved by the Ministry of Education, has brought that opportunity.
Open day celebration was held at Gulshan campus on Saturday with teachers, students, professionals and parents. At this time, UCB announced the launch of three-year B.Sc. degree course of London School of Economics as an exclusive partner of University of London. It is reported that UCB Bangladesh, the first international education provider approved by the Ministry of Education, students of both national curriculum and international curriculum can now join the higher education program at the University of London studying in Dhaka. The educational program will continue in both offline and online modes. University authorities will also keep the scholarship facility along with credit transfer.
After the opening ceremony, a panel discussion on the future of higher education was held. In the discussion, the negotiators emphasized formulating education policy with the opinions of people from all sectors, not just academia. Speakers feel that long-term goals will not be achieved without giving importance to big data and research in subjects like economics, business management, finance and social sciences along with science and technology knowledge.
UCB President and Provost Professor Dr. Hugh Gill moderated the program while the Associate Academic Director of UOL Programs at the London School of Economics Professor Dr. James Abde, UCB’s Dean of Academic Affairs Dr. Muhammad Ismail Hossain and Director of International School Dhaka Steve Calland Scoble participated in the discussion.
After the discussion, the speakers answered various questions of the students and their parents.
