Universal College Bangladesh (UCB) recently hosted an Open Day at its Gulshan campus in partnership with the London School of Economics (LSE), offering local students the chance to pursue internationally recognised degrees in Bangladesh. This initiative allows students to study world-class curriculums in fields such as accounting, business, economics, finance, management, and social sciences through the University of London (UoL) degrees offered at UCB.
The event featured Dr. James Abdey, Associate Professor in Statistics and Associate International Director at LSE, as the Chief Guest. Dr. Abdey provided valuable insights into the LSE curriculum and how obtaining a UoL degree can enhance career prospects. Also in attendance were key figures from UCB, including Manas Singh, CEO of STS; Prof. Hew Gill, President and Provost of UCB; Prof. Muhammad Ismail Hossain, Dean of Academic Affairs; and Kingshuk Gupta, Chief Operating Officer of UCB.
Prof. Hew Gill opened the event, highlighting the importance of international education in equipping Bangladeshi students with the skills necessary for career success. Dr. James Abdey followed with a presentation on how LSE designs its degree curriculums, specifically for students studying at UCB.
Ranked 6th in the QS World Ranking of Universities, LSE is recognised globally for excellence. Many of its degrees are accredited by professional bodies such as ICA, CIMA, and ACCA, offering students exemptions from professional exams in accounting, finance, and data analytics. UCB currently offers four full LSE-designed degrees, allowing students to complete their entire course of study at UCB, with the option to graduate in Dhaka or attend the convocation ceremony in London.
Dr. James Abdey remarked, “LSE crafts its degree curriculums to equip students with the skills needed to thrive in the global economy. LSE’s top-10 ranking ensures that students at UCB receive the best possible international education in a variety of fields.”
Prof. Hew Gill added, “The LSE-designed degrees taught at UCB by LSE-approved faculty offer our students unparalleled education for career success.”
The Open Day provided attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the educational and career opportunities available through UCB’s collaboration with LSE. As Bangladesh’s leading provider of international education, UCB plans to continue hosting events that pave the way for students to embark on rewarding academic journeys.
